21st March 2024 Hiking - Walking: Christchurch Park, Ipswich. Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise) Thursday 21st March - walk **** – Christchurch Park circuit with Maeva – Sunny periods. We had arranged to take Jay to Ipswich for a 10 o clock appointment leaving us free to have the lovely Maeva for the day:) We were surprised to get a good parking spot near the entrance to Christchurch Park and with our picnic on the buggy we set off for a squirrel hunting walk just before 10.30. The park was its usual stunning self, set in rolling parkland with hundreds of large trees, some with the most amazing twisted trunks even better with the sun coming out! Turning left we walked around the outskirts down to the impressive mansion house and back to the large round lake with a buzzard overhead. Then up through the wild wooded area where we stoped to feed 4/5 squirrels with the peanuts we had taken, Maeva loved it. Thenn it was along drag uphill to the formal aboritum where we meet a windsurfing mate from Felixstowe also out on Grand parent duties and stopped for a chat:) The park was full of birds including loads of tits, robins and jays, we heard a woodpecker but did not see it:( We found a nice spot for a picnic on the old bowling green and had a yummy chicken roll with Maeva enjoying her hot cross bun, then with time running out on our parking spot we had to whizz back to the van. It was then only a short drive to visit my 94 year old dad so he could she Maeva for the first time. She was quiet at first but soon turned into her usual playful, chatty self and we had a nice visit:) Then taking the back roads out of Ipswich spotting several hares in a field and dropping off Maeva at home just in time to say hello to her Dad who had come home for lunch with Maeva fast asleep in her car seat, top day:) Photo Album here |
